St. Albans City School awarded Mobil Grant
St. Albans City School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobile Educational Alliance program to support the Middle School Classroom News Projects. Classrooms will create a classroom news team to contribute to a school wide student news blog. Each classroom news team will be equipped with digital cameras to capture pictures and videos of events happening in each classroom.
"St. Albans City School works hard to make learning interseting and fun," said Joanne Faureau, "As a Mobil retailer, I am proud to help young people of the St. Albans Community.". Ms. Faureau is pictured presenting the grant award to Tech Savvy Student Leaders, Dylan Baranik, and Alexandra Bean, and their advisor Ms. deLaBruere.
The Exxon Mobile Educational Alliance program is designed to provide Mobile retailers with an opportunity to invest in the future of their communities through educational grants to neihborhood schools. Exxon Mobil believes that, as members of the community, local retailers are best qualifeid to work with local educators to help identify schools and program most in need of support.

Building Keyboarding Skills
To prepare our students for success, we are starting to teach keyboarding skills in Grade 3. Every Grade 3 students gets 15 hours of formal keyboarding instruction using Type to Learn 3. They continue to work within their classroom environments until they master the alphabet.
During Grade 4, the students continue to build keyboarding speed and accuracy. A list of website for additional practice and free software is available for students to get additional practice at home.
