Mrs. Smith's Senior Interview Project

Mrs. Smith's sixth graders spent some time this year getting to know seniors in our community. Students interviewed seniors from the community and created writing pieces around those interviews. They also published some of the interviews into a book using Tikatok.

Vermont National Guard 40th Army Band Performs With City School Band

'That was awesome!', exclaimed a kindergarten student as he exited the gym. He accurately captured the sentiment of all present at St. Albans City School Tuesday March 17th as the St. Albans City School Senior Bandplayed with the Vermont National Guard 40th Army Band. Mr. Mehaffey arranged for the school to hear a patriotic concert by the Vermont Army National Guard 40th Army Band. Every city school student from grades pre-kthrough 8 was seated in the gymnasium for this event. The 40th Army Band was conducted by Chief Warrant Officer David Meyer. They have traveled the world providing music for concerts, parades and ceremonies. On this day, they were at our school and the music had us all moving, singing and smiling. At the end of the Army Band Concert, Mr. Mehaffey arranged a finale where the Senior Band played along with the Army Band, having never practiced together. Their work was flawless and so impressive. St. Albans City School thanks Mr. Mehaffey, the 40th Army Band and the St. Albans City School Senior Band for an amazing concert.
